The ’77 Beard

April 30, 1977 112 Greene Street/Workshop

Exhibition Description

A live sculpture video performance was performed in which Kyra cut off G.L. Sullivan’s beard and attached the cuttings to his self portraits. Since 1972, the removal of the artist’s full-length beard has been an annual event. The installation at 112 featured color slides, videotapes, and a display of previous beard self-portraits.
