Press Release
William Crow’s wall-mounted pieces are amalgamations of painting, drawing, sculpture, and collage. Inspired by the decorative materials and technique of scrapbooking, his work gives an abstract visual form to personal memory. Based on ordinary events, each piece isolates and commemorates the banal, elevating it to a new level of preciousness and consequence. The actual event depicted remains ambiguous to the viewer, questioning the accuracy of such a recording, and its intended audience. Crow’s work has been featured at OIA Gallery (solo exhibition), NurtureArt, Exit Art, Cynthia Broan Gallery, PS122, and the Bronx Museum of Art, among others. He holds a MFA from Hunter College, and a BA from Wake Forest University, NC.
