Exhibition Description

The paintings and works on paper in this exhibition combined the artist’s continuing interest in land and seascapes, sound, silence, movement, and density. As the title suggests, the works shown were a homage to Darius’ Persepolis involving Engelson’s interest in Islamic art and architecture. This was the first tie that these predominantly multi-panel works were shown in New York City. Carol Engelson was an artist-in-residence at 112 Workshop through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
