White Columns is proud to present “Magog at the Maypole (Sex of Stars)”, the first New York solo exhibition by the Hastings, UK-based artist, writer and musician David Tibet. A legendary figure in musical circles Tibet founded the group Current 93 in 1983 after earlier collaborations with both Psychic TV and 23 Skidoo. For his exhibition at White Columns Tibet will present a group of recent works on paper, including a series of works that incorporate texts written in Coptic, that amplify his ongoing preoccupation with what has been described as “all aspects of apocalypse.”
Tibet’s works have been shown recently in exhibitions in London and Berlin. White Columns would like to thank Bob Nickas and Andrew Gilbert for their assistance with this project.
