Three Large Paintings
Exhibition Description
For each of the paintings, a simplified profile outline of a horse (with internal geometric divisions) was drawn with pencil on unprimed canvas. Then a paint surface of acrylic, gesso, and tempera was applied up to the lines. The artist attempted to equalize the surface of the areas inside and outside the drawn lines. At times the paint application crossed sections of the line and necessitated redrawing. Algarve is black and white; United States is black and sienna; and Siena Dos Equis is burnt sienna toned with white.
