Dieter Froese
Media Transient
Exhibition Description
In his recently published catalog, Dieter Froese: Works on Memory, Perception, Time, and Repetition; Video-stucke und Andere Arbeiten von 1972-1978, the artist describes the structure of this work: “‘Media Transient’ is a performance; it deals with media information distortion. A live activity is videotaped; during the recording, selected images on the monitor are photographed with a Polaroid camera. The prints are attached to the exhibition wall. One is selected and projected onto a drawing board. Of the projected image a drawing is produced (usually within 20 minutes), which is evaluated by an art critic.
