Winter Street Scenes

May 21–May 21, 1977 112 Greene Street/Workshop

Exhibition Description

On Artists’ Day in Soho, Lawrence Kucharz installed a continuously playing tape of his soundpiece, Winter Street Scenes in which a limited vocabulary of twelve words (cold, icy, wind, bright, glaring, light, dark, narrow, street, flashing, window, sign) were compossed both serially and according to syntactic meaning. The piece was for four voice tracks and a sound mix of several tones and an alternating interval.
