Exhibition Description
For his first one-person exhibition in New York City, John Geldersma exhibited adaptations of earlier work used as markers to locate the major sites of the sun’s cycle (Equinoxes and Solstices). At least two markers are needed to create a line of sight for each location, and the tops of the pieces have a slot for viewing the sun’s position. Certain fetish material was attached for each season; however, other materials were attached for purely decorative purposes. The tall, flat wooden pieces were hung at the top of each column in the space.
