Exhibition Description

Alan Eaker’s first one-person show consisted of new work concerned with three-dimensional objects and their cast shadows. Wood veneers were laminated to a white textured field on canvas. These painting-reliefs resulted from the interaction of an object with one of more light source, and they dealt with the various problems involving the relationships between two- and three-dimensional conditions present in each work. The works have a formal geometric quality, bordering on abstraction, and at the same time, are based on the literality of the object.
